LAWS & TRADITIONS
Sierra Leone is one of the world’s most religiously tolerant nations. There is a diversity of cultures and traditions in the country as a whole. It is not uncommon for to see muslims and christians living together in harmony. National holidays are almost exclusively celeberated by all in a spirit of oneness. In order for such a co-existence to flourish, there are state laws that protect the rights and freedom of asociation. Each ethnic group in the country has its traditions and culture. As a visitor, you could easily be absorbed into the local culture and life style. But it is important to show respect for the laws of the land and the traditions that you may encounter.
THE USE OF BAN SUBSTANCES AND OTHER DRUGS
The laws against the use of banned substances and other drugs are strict, and not to be messed with. You are advised to avoid the use of drugs while you are on holiday.

Crime
It is criminal to smuggle precious stones like diamonds, gold and other metals. Avoid buying such on the streets and from unauthorized (unlicensed) merchants. If you are ever exposed to such street hawkers, try to ignore the temptations. If you are ever caught with such items, the penalty could be very severe.
HEALTH CONCERNS
Sierra Leone has a tropical climate, and so is the environment. Vaccines before the trip could prevent you from some tropical diseases like Malaria, especially in the rainy season. It is not obvious that you will get sick while you are there, but it is always good to take precaution. If you ever get sick while you are in Sierra Leone, there are good hospitals to visit for medical advice.
