The numbers are rising. Anyone who is familiar with Sierra Leone’s tourism industry will attest that there is a steady increase in the number of tourists visiting this coastal country. According to an article written by Oliver Smith of the Telegraph on the 27 of June 2017, the World’s Tourism Organization claims that Sierra Leone is the hottest tourist destination in the world at the moment. This statement is reflected in the number of tourists visiting for pleasure and other reasons. Since 2013, there has been a positive rise in hotel bookings. This trend is also reflected in the number of new hotels and restaurants that are been built in some of the most attractive tourists sites in the city of Freetown and elsewhere in the country. It is projected that the trend will hold as the board and ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs are increasing their engagement with both local and international stakeholders.
